Charles:  Welcome back and am very impressed with your trial Chilex Weekly.
My first try did not work, but the second try produced the talking wizard
and the zooming grids.  Unfortunately I do not even remember the library so
can only add my wishes that the rest of the ex-chuquites have a better
memory than mine.  How is Elena doing?  Hopefully finished with the horrible

Subject: [chuqui] Testing Thanksgiving Chilex Weekly

I am (finally!) getting back to publishing an issue of the Chilex
Weekly;
it will be very different because I am planning to use animation and
SOUND!

I am also developing a software package that will allow anyone to
build interactive photos, an example of how it will work is in the
test area that I am asking you all to test and see if it works.
There are a couple of restrictions:
You must have Internet Explorer version 4 or above.
It does not work with Netscape.
If you do not have the right software you will be prompted to
download the latest Internet Explorer from the microsoft website.
This example is a photo of our library, you will see a Wizard
pop up and describe the library and ask you to press the View Grid
button.
Once you do this you will be able to mouse over the picture and
write about things you see in a moving window.
You will be able to enlarge the picture as much as you want
I am planning to sell the software that allows you to make
interactive pictures and give the proceeds to Chuqui Ayuda and
Domingo Savio.

I hope this will create another succesful drive for Chuqui Ayuda and
Domingo Savio.

está en general bien y cada vez tirando más para arriba, no sabes lo que me
alegro, doy gracias a Dios que Uds. estén saliendo bien adelante, qué bonito
como siempre que la ames tanto, leí tus palabras y me emociona, es tan
difícil hoy en día ver ese amor que perdure en el tiempo después de tantos
años juntos, en realidad los felicito yasí seguirán uds. amándose siempre,
qué lindo Charlie me da tanto gusto....... en cuanto a lo que están poniendo
de la página si puedes, sólo si puedes por favor mándame la foto de lo que
hablan como file mira que todavía tengo cortado el teléfono en casa y no
puede acceder a internet, y acá como sabes no tengo pues nos tienen
solamente la parte de los correos electrónicos ok? sólo si puedes sino me
aguanto hasta tener nuevamente ok? besitos miles a ti y Elenita, los
felicito por salir adelante con tanta entereza y fe, sobretodo unidos y

Regarding the problem you had with the @mi.cl mail was that it was
mispelled: it's jgillmore@mi.cl (just a j and two l's).

I feel excited like a little kid on Christmas Day! Just thinking I'll get to
know about my dear childhood friends after all these years has really got me

Te aclaro la situación...

En la foto de 1963 (Chuqui) la niñita de la referencia R2L2 es sin duda la
Claudita, hermana menor de los Chellew Narbona (pobrecita...).

Probablemente la confusión surgió pues la niñita de la MISMA REFERENCIA
(R2L2) pero de la foto de 1964 (Tocopilla), si acaso es ella, su nombre es
Cheryl Pope (o Poppe, no estoy seguro). De éso me acuerdo por que el Tuni
Stuven no paró de agarrarme p'al leseo en una vacación en la Casa de
Huéspedes, pues también tuve un pequeño fling con ella (ya estaba un par de
años más grandecita eso sí).

Además, respecto de la primera foto, al lado de Charlie Machuca Woodbridge
(¡inconfundible!), está la Marisol Sáez, me parece.

Por último, por ahora, te vuelvo a agradecer Charlie esta magnífica
oportunidad para escarbar en el baúl de los recuerdos y retomar el contacto
con todos mis amigos de la infancia. Ya me he comunicado con Richard Kirk
(que está en Inglaterra) y con mi compadre Claudio "Chato" Araya desde
Tucson.

Aprovecho de contarte que te envié otra corrección de un apellido de la foto
collage del 70: el apellido es MUALIM (y no Maulim), papá del Pancho Jr. y
la "Porota".

Success! Yes, I do use Windows XP. I had to download the Text-to-Speech
LH3000 in addition to the SAPI 4.0 dll in order to get it fixed. The new
Chilex Weekly sounds great!

Here are the early pictures that you wanted me to resend to you re:
MacFamily. The line-up is Broths1 (Donny, me Carmen and Jackie); Antofamily
(Donny, me, Mum, Dad, Carmen and Jackie).



I have just finished digitising some of my Dad’s old home movies. Here is a
sample (the smallest file, actually) The mpg clips are a bit big as you can
imagine, but I would be willing to burn them on to a CD and post them to you
. There are some really good footage of, for example, swimming on the Santa
ship while crossing the Panama Canal, Picnic down in Ojo de Opache, First
Communion, Paradas del  21 de Mayo y 18 de Septiembre, Down at the Golf Club
pool, etc.



Let me know whether there is room on the Yahoo web site to upload them? We
might want to design the Christmas/New year’s issue around them where our
Chuquicamatinos may click on the individual clips and have a home-movie
treat!

Charlie:
  Great job with the new Edition of CW. Can't get the sound out of the two
characters, the geni and the magician. It isn't that important really as I
can identify most of the places. One question. the picture you put in of the
Panama Canal Steam Sovel doesn't print in its entirity only about 3/4. I
would like so muc to have the complete picture. Would it be possible that
you can resend it but turned 90 degrees, this way it may print all of it.
Talked to Paul Hodges about it as I thought he sent the picture to you but
he doesn't recall. Maybe it was somebody else. Anyway would appreciate it
much as I collect all the old time pictures of the mine as a memento. Many
saludos to Elena and we are so happy that she is feeling better. All the

Dear Charles,

Regarding tracing my family this year in North and
South America, my wife Christine and I have traced them in
part thanks to the E-mail letter in the Oct 2000 issue
of the Chilex some 5 months ago where Jamie Taylor
Barret gave an outline of our Letchford family.
We lost contact with Mum's family when she died in 1980.
We have since traced all the family and have visited Harold
in Tennessee, Lucy in Roswell, Atlanta, Cathy and Tia Elena
 in Charlotte, NC, Aunty Gwen and my cousins in Miraflores,
 Lima, Peru, etc. We met George and David in Charlotte.
These visits took place in October and November this year.
We are now hoping we will have the family visit us in Adelaide,
South Australia, in the coming years.
Thanks for the fine job you are doing publishing the Chilex Weekly.

Hello Charlie,

Good to hear from you!    Happy holidays!    I'm glad your Elena is doing so
well.   I have been wondering.   Also I'm glad to hear that Harold is doing
OK.   I've been wondering what happened.   We're doing OK up here in "God's
Country", just enjoying life and being retired.   It's the best job I ever
had!    We have about 12 to 14 inches of fresh white snow on the ground and
more predicted for New Year's Day.   Our temperatures have been going crazy
though.    From below zero one day to almost 40 degrees a couple of days
later.   The weather gurus are attributing it all to "El Nino".    I had
noticed that Juan Estay had joined the group and have been meaning to
contact him.     Guess I had better get on the ball.   I did send Emily
Calderon a note, but never got a response.   Don't know if she got it or she
is just not interested.    Have you heard anything from Juanito Bradford?
I got a nice Christmas card from him, but no note with it.    I sure would
like to see him.   We've a lot of catching up to do.   "Los dos anjelitos",
as they used to call us back in our Chuqui bandido days.    Many good
requerdos!

Sure is good to hear from you, Charlie and I am sure happy that things are
going so well for you guys!
